Taking the combination of the human body with letters of the alphabet that was so popular with the Mannerists, the artist multiplies photographic views of a bronze sculpture of a female figure which is
unnaturally twisted (a figura serpentinata) and forms the letters W (as in whirl, whip, whore, woman); H (as in heart, heat, help) and M (as in move, monument, motherhood, mumps).
